The Shimano XTR RT-MT900 Centerlock brake disc is the pinnacle of braking technology for ambitious mountain bikers. As a consistent further development of the successful Ice-Technologies Freeza design, this 180mm version sets new standards in heat management for demanding cross-country, trail, and enduro use. In intensive tests, heat dissipation for the 180mm variant was further improved by a remarkable 20°C, while weight was simultaneously reduced to a minimum.
The secret to this outstanding performance lies in the highly developed sandwich construction: an aluminum core is enclosed by two stainless steel layers. The inwardly extended aluminum cooling fins dissipate the generated friction heat extremely quickly. This effectively prevents the feared brake fading (reduction in braking power). The result is first-class, extremely consistent, and always predictable braking performance, even on long, steep descents and under the harshest conditions. Installation is clean and play-free via the Centerlock system (internal spline version).
